Mobile Printing Boom with 54% CAGR till 2016 predicted.
Berlin, 20th December 2012. The Cloud Buzz has reached the printing industry. Berlin Software maker ezeep offer the simplest way to print – anywhere, from any device to any printer. IDC’s forthcoming data predicts that the world-wide mobile printing market will experience “hockey-stick-like” growth providing a 5 year Compound Annual Growth Rate of 54% with revenue growing to $1.3 billion in 2016, up from around $68,3 million in 2010. Lyra Research forecasts sharp growth for mobile printing too: starting with 3 million pages printed in 2009 and 100 million in 2012, it is expected that approximately 2 billion pages will be printed from mobile devices in 2015, exceeding 10 billion in 2020.
The trend towards mobile printing and printing that is easy is one of the biggest changes in user behaviour in printing. The number of employees who no longer have fixed desk has grown rapidly. For that reason, particularly companies increasingly need safe, uncomplicated and convenient solutions so their mobile workforce can print at any office and on-the-go without much effort, time or any driver installation or setup problems. ezeep enables easy and fast printing, in the office and on-the-go, from smartphones, tablets, computers and even the Web. Set up only takes a minute: existing printers are automatically connected with ezeep and can be shared with colleagues, guests or customers with just a click. As a result mobile printing is becoming easier and more popular. According to a recent study by Photizo Group of small to medium-sized businesses, on average more than 20% of people have printed from their smartphones already with at least an additional 46% stating they intend to do so in the future.
„Mobile printing represents the biggest shift in printing behaviour of people. With ezeep printing is finally easy and reliable – no matter where or what is being printed. Complicated driver setup is a thing of the past. On top of that our mobile printing solution offers significant cost-savings potential for companies.“, explains Sascha Kellert, Founder and CEO of ezeep.
On average companies spend around 1 to 3% of revenue on printing. With ezeep companies can reduce a significant portion of their IT spending by unlocking cost-savings for hardware and IT-support on one side, while benefiting from automated control and monitoring of printing and printer infrastructure on the other.
To achieve an optimum of flexibility, mobility and productivity, many companies allow their staff the use of private smart phones, tablets, laptops and PCs in sync with internal company systems. Employees are increasingly using their own devices inside companies, a trend referred to as „bring your own device“ (BYOD). According to a survey by Forrester Research 92% of companies surveyed said that a good proportion of people – typically an average of 28% – use their own IT equipment at work.
Employees who can work from their own devices such as laptops, smartphones or tablets, are more mobile and productive. For IT managers in companies there is the advantage that the equipment owned by employees, external employees or departments eliminates the need to procure and manage in-house devices. Especially companies with BYOD strategy benefit because in addition to cost savings for hardware and IT support, printing and monitoring and management are automated with a service like ezeep. Total cost reductions simply by reducing print-related help desk calls and administration costs can be in the region of 14%.
